I've been a member of this forum for a month or two now and have not yet posted any pics or info about my own turtles. So I thought I'd do that now. I have two baby RES, I got them at a flea market in florida while on vacation. They made a 1500 mile journey from Florida back to CT with me. I'm proud to say thier doing great. I named them Captiva and Sanibel after beaches in florida. They were living in a 10 gallon aquarium up until about a week ago when I got them thier 55 gallon. They absolutely love it. I plan on building an indoor pond for them when thier adults. I just ordered the XP3 filter, the filter I have is much too small for the 55 gallon, so I can't wait for it to arrive.

I love your set up...so clean and spacious looking. Cute little guys too...or girls. I wish I could put my pleco in with my turts...they tried to eat him though, so I took him out.

So green! I love tanks like this. :)

And very cute turts--Sannibel (how did you come to arrive at that name?) looks like a little Buddha. :)

Thier self weighted. They come with weights attached to the bottom that keep them from floating and moving around. I found them on ebay, thier great. The turtles love swimming around them and hiding in them.

I have some in my tank...I think they are the greatest, because a lot of the plants require gravel to be stuck to the bottom. Many pet stores have them. There also make some that have suction cups on the bottom, they come in handy too!

You can also make them yourself. I bought the fake plants at the store and pulled off the big plastic thingy on the bottom. I bought one of those semisoft slate type rocks at the petstore and broke it into smaller pieces and ground down all the sharp edges. Then I drilled a hole in the center just big enought to stick the end of the plant in. Then I filled the hole with silicone and shoved it in. Let it dry overnight and they work great.
