Well, we celebrated this weekend as Koopa's official birthday. (kind of hard to do when you don't know exactly when he was born) We got him around June 27 of last year at a little shop in Florida. He still had his egg-tooth so it's easy to estimate his hatching date around that info though. So we just played pick-a-date and decided it was his birthday.
Here are some pictures of him then and now. He's grown just a "smidgen" over two inches in the last year.
Happy birthday Koopa!! She's real cute, and looks so different now to a year ago. They sure change.
It's funny, I noticed a white line on top of Gamera's shell today and was worried, so I logged on tonight to enquire with the ever helpful staff here, but I can see Koopa had exactly the same thing I see on Gamera based on the first 2 photos. It's the one that runs down the middle of the shell. It alsmost looks like the natural green colour is eroded there. So now, I wont need to post that query. Also note that the shell turns brown from the green - does this occur in all RES?
I cant wait till Gamera looks like Koopa. Happy birthday again Koopa!!
RES do begin to turn a brownish color. There was another post about that not to long ago, but it may have been tied with something else, I don't remember. It will take place in it's own time frame too, so your res may stay green longer than others.
LOL! Thanks guys. Koopa turned a year old gracefully... didn't faze him a bit. I did try to give him a treat... strawberries. Silly Koopa is afraid of anything red though. He runs from tomatoes, red bell peppers and now strawberries. He doesn't know what he's missing.
