It's very sad... Thousands of extra RES are bred so that a breeder or turtle farm will hatch one, which is contributing to the RES overpopulation. Albinos also won't live as long as normal RES and have a host of other health issues. They are more sensitive light for one thing. They require special care. It's sad what people will do for a buck.

I've said it before, but albino RES look SO spooky to me.

I don't know. I just found a pic and it looked cool to me, so I posted it here to see if anyone else has ever saw one.

They do occur naturally in the wild, in fact just about all creatures, even human beings, have an albino variant that is possible, but the problem is that even without the health problems they may have, they almost never ever live to see adulthood because all the other turtles are camoflauged and then albinos get picked off and eaten by predators within the first day or two of their lives. So that albino was almost assuredly the result of a breeder and is someone's pet.

I had an albino history teacher in high school. The guy was half blind, and had pink skin and redish colored eyes. So, you think looking at that turtle is a bit disturbing, try having someone like that for a whole semester of history!

those are all over :/ i dont think people really purchase them/take care of them to some people there the same as regular res. at the flea market down here the albino's are $10 and the regular res are $5. horrible.

I did a search on google for albino RES awhile back because I was considering getting one. The prices i found ranged from $350 to $500(I have no idea if those are fair prices or not). So I guess I'm not going to get one anytime soon. Personally I wouldn't mind having to take in a albino RES even if it ment more work then normal RES. I think they deserve a chance at a happy life too

5-10 dollars is awfully cheap for RESs.
