im brandon oda and im 13 y.o,so if u read my story, Illegal or not? in the threads,i got Smallsz in florida wen i visited orlando. A vendor was selling me many,so i bought one for 10 dollers and she gave me a small betta fish tank to let it in.We also had to sneak it through the plane, because i didnt want it to go in the wrong hands,
but after discoverin this site i got all possible things for it.

this week were getting a UVB light for him,so far hes in a 10 gallon which is going to be upgraded very soon.

and this is top view of him next to his dock, which we will get a bigger one too.

I also have a question, I think i see alot of shedded skin or white flakes underneath the filter (fluvar 2+) is that normal
Also should i buy loads of river rocks for the bottom of the tank?
at Brooks i saw alot of em for sale
Also when i get my UVB light im going to get a 10 gallon tank Cover which is ok right? Also im getting a 5% uvb.

I think your tank is fine just like it is for now. You can get a few river rocks just so the turtle has something to play with but make sure they are nice and large and only add a few. The less you have in the tank, the happier the turtle will be.

What kind of cover for the tank are you talking about? The kind that is made for fish tanks or the ones made for reptile tanks?

I would check petsmart or petco online, but you can just buy those in the store... I haven't used bigalsonline.com but a lot of people order from that.

Also, you may want to get a floating plant of two, little turtles like to have things on the surface to rest on :-)

Just make sure that the cover you buy has holes that are bigger than 1/2 inch. Smaller than that and it will filter your UVB. You can also make your own cover with things like chicken wire and hardware cloth.

Tank looks good :)
That's the uvb light I use, and I think it's dandy that it fits in a regular light socket! I use the 5% too, but I've got it positioned a bit closer than you would position say a 10%. It's about 6-7 inches away from his basking area.
I've also seen the same bulb in a 10%, but since I order mine online, the shipping is cheaper for the 5% (different companys).

Steve posted this in another thread, it's a good deal, so I put it on here for you:
http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ct ... uvb100lamp

That site also has the reflector lamp you need for that bulb for like $8-9, if you don't have one for it already.
