This is Cortez's New Home. We upgraded from a 20 Gallon to a 55 Gallon. She is loving her new space, she just glides back and forth, plays in the filters bubbles, and hides behind her new rock.











She got the most expensive Christmas present EVER!

They sell those rocks in the pet stores alot, they are usually $5 a pack. But here is a secret I will share with you... most Dollar Stores sell those rocks! And they have them in all shapes colors and sizes. I chose those rocks not only because they were pretty, but because in the past I noticed she ate regular gravel. So I needed something bigger that she could not eat.

Yes she tries to redecorate all the time! If you look at the first picture and compare it to the others the big rock is placed differently. The first picture shows how the big rock looks now.... after she knocked it down. At first I used to pick it back up for her... thinking she did it on accident... yea right! Ten minutes later.... BOOM! She knocked it down.... three times she did this! Finally I just left it how she wanted it, and she loves it that way.

I used to have the plants under the stones but she would dig them out and move them, little did she know they needed the weight of the stones to keep them down. By the time I would come home, they would be on top of the water! And she would look guilty!

But now I outsmarted her! I pulled out the ends of the plants from its original stand, and I stuck them in suction cups! Now she can't move them! HA!

Nice pics. About the lighting, though. The UVB light is the tube on the left? If so, it should be more over the basking area for your turtle to benefit. How far away is the heat source? What's the basking area temp?

No the UV light is over the Basking area the clamp on light that you see, the tube is the fluorescent light, just for extra lighting.

They LOVE shiney rocks! Make sure they are "aquaruim safe" (no lead)...

If that is glass 'rocks', I'd remove them. They can crack easily and if they are made cheaply, then they could leave contaminants in the water.
