I like to bring my turtle outside on the weekends to get some sunshine. He loves climbing the fence - and has seemingly no fear of heights!

That is realy high up.....i would stop doing that ASAP, you're turtle can get hurt. Even if you have something soft for him to land on. Think about it, would you drop a human baby 10 feet into a pile of pillows and stuffed animals?

Oh my goodness! Don't let him do that! He doesn't have any idea what he's doing! He'll crack his shell or break his poor neck!

OMG! scared me at the end of the video! did your turtle fall? i wouldnt let the turtle fall from so high and even w/ some soft landing, i think he/she can crack the shell. (your turtle is very strong.)

He's really light, and got pillows to land on so he doesn't get hurt. Gets right back up to climb it again when he falls. Since you all are worried though, I think I might trim the fence so it's only a foot high so he when he does fall it's just a tiny one. Do you think that'll be safe? I still want to let him climb since he loves doing it.

i think your turtle is trying to get out. wouldnt it be better that you widen the area, so your turtle can roam around on the grass instead of climbing up??

I've thought about that, but I'm afraid he'll dig his way out if he's on the grass (I had a friend that had that happen to hers once). I do want to have him outside for a couple hours on the weekends just so he can get some real sunshine in addition to the UV bulb.

I bout had a coronary!!! OMG!

Cute baby...scary fall!!

(Possibly IF you have to keep your turt outside for a couple hours unsupervised on weekends, maybe bury some bricks in a circle or whatever them cover them with another set of bricks so that it wont be able to dig out?)

Just a suggestion?!

He or she is really a good climber. Very good brain in that little head. I wonder what the little guy was thinking, maybe," I'm getting out of here know matter what it takes." I loved the video. I know the fall from that hight could be dangerous. I do beleive older and larger turtle are more likely to hurt in a fall.
Thank you for sharing the video, it shows us what turtles are capable of doing.

Thats a bad idea on a couple different levels. One being that there dosen't appear to be a spot with shade where your turt could go to when they get too much sun, and that fall, well, I don't know what to say about that.......

cute. dangerous but cute. i would advise putting something slippery that he can't grip so he doesn't climb. i shudder to think of what injuries he'd sustain from falling. even with the pillows.
