Looks like a big upgrade, and it looks nice. I'm wondering about a heat source as well. From the pics, it looks like you had the same kind of basking area in the smaller tank, with just a flourescent (UVB?) light. Is there a light that gives off heat? What's the basking area temp there now?

actually, both tanks i've got have the glass ladder and the glass basking area. I always thought that was what all turtle tanks had.

Speaking of which, where did you get these tanks? I've never seen them in a store and i looked a little online but didn't find anything. The only tanks around here that i've seen that are designed specifically for turtles are those ones that have one half wall so you can't fill the tank up all the way.

Hey OctopusGirl, check these guys out...http://www.glasscages.com/
Image

They build custom aquariums at very reasonable prices. They also can custom build turtle ramps and I know that they would also be able to build a custom basking platform too if that's what you wanted. A bunch of guys up near where I live went in on a group buy and had them ship a truck load of custom tanks to a nearby location. I didn't have the $$ to get in on it, but their tanks all look really nice and well built.

BTW, that's where I'm going to get my custom tank if/when I setup an octopus display. I'm thinking of one of their Acrylic Aquarium Cubes with a tight fitting lid.
