yeh, ill admit, im somewhat lazy to do the search thing, and plus i think this post is necessary. So basically what im asking you wonderful peoples to do is, those who have indoor or outdoor ponds, post your pics in here. Mainly because i wanna get some ideas as to what plants to buy and get some ideas on how to setup my indoor pond. and plus, this post would be helpful for future references for new pond builder/owners. Thank you all for posting your pond pics!

Here's our pond:

Image

It's six feet across and two and a half feet deep. There's a pond master filter and UV filter in there, and underwater lights for night time if we want them.

It needs some work - drainage isn't working properly, need to test water, there are some places that would let Spot escape. It needs a good cleaning and the filter needs servicing. Over the next couple of months we hope to finish it up, put in some nice landscaping, and move Spot on out!

I think it will be beautiful when we get it all fixed up. We'll sit out there in the evenings and watch Spot and the birds...paradise in our back yard!

It looks like the well from the horror movie "The Ring".

Ha! I can tell you that WASN'T the model!

But it does look like a well. And it's deeper than it looks. It extends about a foot below ground level. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but it means we won't be able to syphon the water out - we'll have to pump.

Spots mama, would the water get cold at night during the fall? I know its hot in texas, but what if the water temp fluctuates? Ive always wondered about outdoor ponds, and I would be scared to leave karlyn out there.. I can see you have a big fence so thats good! :)

The temperature would get too cool in the fall. Then I'd bring him inside. I think until the weather gets consistantly cool he'll be ok because that water is pretty deep (minimum 2 1/2 feet) and a foot of it is below ground level, so it's pretty well insulated. There's shade on part of the pond all day with the trees (hard to see - the large trees are behind me) so he's also protected from the heat.

It's going to be sooo neat to have two habitats for him - he can stay outside when the weather's pretty and come inside when it's bad! Do you think he'll appreciate it?

Yea, that's like 500 to 600 gallons of water surrounded by rock and earth. That should keep the temps pretty stable as long as there's some shade during the day. I almost wish I were a turtle so i could check it out! :D
