I finally took Tobi out today for the 1st time in her life! It is nice and warm and she loved it!

I dont understand why do they "dig" out there?! lol She ran and walked and DUG.... it was cute and when cars drove by she stuck her head out and stared! It was so neat!

Check out the cute pics! I took MORE but this was all I figured I'd put on. See the one with the foot?! This shows how BIG she really is. I wear a size 10 shoe...and my foot next to her is almost the same size! lol

Wow she is big and beautiful! She looks like she is really enjoying herself out there! I'm no expert by any means, but do you think the digging could indicate that she wants to lay eggs? I'm sure you know better than me, i don't have to worry about my boy having eggs, just a thought though. I can't wait till it's nice out again so i can take my turtle out for a little walk.

Thanx! I dunno...I thought about her being gravid not too long ago...but she shows NO signs in the tank?! And I feel no eggs in front of her hind legs. So....Maybe an instinct thing? I guess when we go out again if she keeps diggin' then its normal maybe?!

I wouldnt think she was hot or anything its only 73 today and it was sun and shade. So I dont think she was trying to get cool. I put her directly down and within a minute she found dirt and started digging but ONLY with her front feet.... strange; but cute!

I never thought of that Hooneylynn...she DID pop her head up before the car actually passed! I bet she did feel the vibrations!

I thought she was gonna freak out or sit like a log since she had never been out before, but NOPE...once on the ground and she popped her head out and she was OFF! We were only out about 25 minutes. (We gathered about 6 unknown neighbors..) lol

When I took karlyn out in the forest preserve the first time, she was walking with her head up high, just looking at everything! Just like you are describing.... yeah, I believe turts have good sense of vibrations and stuff.. Im sure she did hear it, although her sense of hearing isnt as good... I always try to test what she hears by talking loudly when Im on the other side of the room, without moving.. and she doesnt look. Now if I stomp on the ground, she usually looks in the direction or looks startled... So I think they can feel vibrations good. :)

Thats cool! I always thought Tobi heard well... need to test again I guess. She seems to come or turn her head when I talk or call her name. 1st with the vibrations though. Very neat!

Its so hard to tell with the hearing... If you try to test her hearing, and see if she turns to look at you, you have to make sure you arent moving, waving your hands.... or anything that would get her attention. Karlyn seems to hear better out of water... but its really hard to tell when she is out walking around, because she is so attentive to me when shes out anyways. The cutest thing though, she will go and sniff my boyfriends socks! Its so cute! She walks with her head straight out, and then she will lower it and sniff his sock... She pokes her nose at it... She sniffs a lot of things come to think of it. Sometimes she is stubborn. I make my own cigarrettes sometimes, so I have tobacco on a book on the floor, and she always wants to crawl on it... so I pick her up at the last second, and moved her like six feet away, and she kept going back and back to it. AHH! So I let her wander in a different room. She knows I wont let her crawl on it, but she just HAS to try! :)

Haha it's so funny how turtles latch onto things! I have all my quilting stuff spread out on the floor, and I have a rotary cutter that Napoleon has fallen in love with. He goes over and climbs about halfway over it then just sits on it for a few minutes, then goes back to exploring, but a few minutes later he's back on his cutter! I like how shiny and black Tobi's shell is, reminds me of obsidian!
