My friend recently just gave me a tortoise named Fred.
Would the basking dock of an aquatic turtle tank be suitable for a tortoise? Serra sure likes him.

Thanks,

Kevin

Lol Ever since I put the tortoise on her basking dock, Serra has been basking more often (and longer too!) I think I once caught her basking with her head on the tortoise's shell...

If you have a turtle that doesn't like to bask, you could try putting a turtle friend for it on its basking dock...lol that might encourage it to bask.

That's actually a pretty good idea for getting them to bask! I don't know what was up with Napoleon tonight, he kept hauling himself up on the dock, sitting for a few seconds then diving off, over and over, and finally he settled in, just as the timer shut his lights off. I snuck over and flipped them back on so he'd keep going! I didn't see him basking for so long I practically have a complex about it, every morning on my way out the door I'm going 'be a good boy buddy, love you, YOU BASK! YOU BASK TODAY! looooove you!' Luckily he does seem to have gotten into a routine, and shows signs of shedding very soon :D

This would happen in my case:

Turtle #1 - Fears Fred.

Turtle #2 - Eats Fred.
