This is my new lizard I got last night. He is a Yellow Throated Plated lizard. I have not picked out a name yet for him, any suggestions?

He looks cute! How about Chaucer? Bernard (of Claiveaux)? Draco? (Latin for dragon?) Serpens? (latin for snake?)

I kinda like the name Chaucer. Reminds me Geoffery? Chaucer. I think it may be a male. Accoding to the care sheets that I have read the males will have a fringe on their back legs and mine has that. The pet shop card said they can get up to 24 inches long, web site said 18 inches. Mine is the better part of that now.

I didn't realize it was that big. It looks like a beautiful lizard! :D Is the fringe from the femoral pores under the back legs or is it something else? That's one way to tell the difference between sexes in adult bearded dragons. Another way is looking for the hemipenal bulges at the base of the tail.

Huh? I think those two posts belong under my other post I started, (Name That Tune)! Anyway, I was wondering about how many crickets I should be feeding him. He ate 23 of the two dozen I bought him today in about two minutes. I tried to get on another forum more specific for lizards, but all they told me to do is google it.

Wow, he's a hungry guy! Plated lizards are omnivorous so you should also provide them with veggies and fruit. Here are some links to some more info about them...
