My mom thought it would be nice for Serra ( she calls her Salad) to have some fishy friends and so we went out to buy some fish at Big Al's Aquarium Services

We bought 6 platys, 4 males and 2 females (poor females!)
I put two of the most aggressive males into Serra's tank. She doesn't wanna eat them at all! She sometimes just swims up to them to sniff them and then turn around and swim away as though she hates fish or something.
The other 4 platys live in their own small tank.

Here are the two aggressive males, Orange Juice ( the orange one)

and Phantom ( He was in the tank with the other fish when I took this pic, but now he's in Serra's tank)

Here's Big Momma, whom I think might have had some fry,

Here's shy Goldy

And here's the loving couple, Spazzy(the yellow one. He was named for his strange sudden outbursts in which he usually collides into he glass) and Gypsy.

Oh and today I found this chestnut sapling in a huge amount of sand in the park and I decided to bring it home to grow it as a bonsai. (sorry for the blurriness, it was cold outside)

Cheers,

Nice pics (again!). :D I like those kinds of fish too. They're actually really easy to breed since they're live bearers. If you give the babies somewhere to hide they may survive too. That chestnut bonsai sounds really cool too. I love your turtle every time I see her! She is really cute! :D

Yeah, I agree. Serra is so pretty! And look at that elegant basking pose.
My name's Sarah too, but she's obviously got a much cooler way of spelling it! (that is how it is pronounced, no?) Anyway keep the pics coming, they're gorgeous!

Serra is always adorable, and I love the pics you post too! I hope she continues to peacefully coexist wih the platys, but she may, as I am sure you know, decide they look tasty after all.

so im sure you arent checking this anymore, but i just recently got the same exact water heater as is shown in one of these pictures.
i put mine under a thin layer of rock, and it has been in for a few hours now and i am not noticing any changes in the water temp.
does it take a while?
my fear is that if i just hang it on the side of the set up my baby RES's will try to " explore" it and potentially hurt themselves.
any tips and pointers would be awesome!
thanks!

Oh that heater won't work in big tanks. It only warms up a small body of water. You'll have to get a better one...lol

I bought that originally for my turtle, too.
