i removed the smaller gravel, got a few bigger river rocks
placed all of the anacharis in a container with gravel
got a new digital thermometer
got a zoo med dock
raised the water level
got an xp3
made a veggie clip
got water test kit
got some plastic plant with suction cups
got a piece of (drift?) wood
and i got a turkey baster!!

mostly thanks to you all

i still plan on building an above tank basking area and raising the water all the way (ill post updates)

but here it is for now,
im satisfied, and koopa looks like hes lovin it.
let me know what you all think.
let me know what i could do,
i want to add something for him to hide in on the bottom, maybe one of those hamster cage tubes? coffee mug or somethin like that..

and what are some more real plants i could/should add?..and if anyone has and doesnt mind, could you post pics?..i can remember it better if i see it (for trips to the petstore or plant store)

(p.s. the lights are setup up weird like that for a better pic)

I think it's the water heater and it look's like it's making bubble's because of the filter..It's all in the angle.

Great setup! It looks like paradise for a little turtle! About the plants, it looks like you have some anacharis in there already? They usually love to eat/shred that one. I have a plant called hornwort in my tank right now, my turtle eats it a little bit but he mostly leaves it alone, which i like because it looks nice in the tank. Here's a pic of it:

I bet a baby turtle would really enjoy hiding and hanging out in it.

Yea that looks very nice, Twoster. And Koopa is really cute, he looks very happy. :)

I really like your setup too, octpusgirl8, with the grouping of plants and rocks in the center like that. Did you arrange them that way or did your turtle do that? :D

thanks davidY,
and octpus again for the post,
just got back from petsmart and i got a grip of hornwort, not as green as yours (...petsmart here doesnt have the best plants, compared to the china house)
but koopa loves it for sure.lol..hes already all in up in it, inspecting and such..i also got a few of the smaller crickets (only 9cents..figured why not)..i hand fed him one and i think hes begging for more!..haha..i was wondering how many small crickets a week could i feed koopa?..i only bought 4..ha...also, how you can "gut load" crickets with common, around-the-house type foods?..

and i also got this black snail guy.(petsmart lady probably killed 4 or 5 of them by dropping a massive rock on them..r.i.p.).hopefully koopa will let him chill and clean his crib!..lol..heres a few pics..

Very nice, looks quite happy to me!. Anacharis is a great plant, especially in ponds. It makes a lot of oxygen and when you can get it to grow big and healthy it really looks cool. Fish love hiding in it as well. Now that I found our res eat it I will be quick to get some!

Looks real good! I hope BubblesTheHeart doesn't hear about that snail fiasco at the petstore though.

You can gut load the crickets with some fresh veggies or even veggie scraps (like roots or tips that get discarded when chopping vegetables for a meal. Also peels from an orange or apple. But crickets are a high protein and high phosphorous food source so you should limit them to just as a treat once or twice a month, or even once a week in place of any other meaty type treats.
