My baby Western Painted Turtle came today!!

I think I scared the UPS guy when I was at his truck before he could even grab the box. I was excited! I had been up and waiting since 8am, and he came at 10:40am. I kept telling myself "act your age!" But I wanted to jump up and down saying" he came he came he came!!" Lol!

He's the cuteist little thing I've ever seen!! He's so pretty!

he should probably have a decent amount of water in there. hes cute :) where'd you get him? companies that ship turtles through ups or whatever usually arent very good for animals. they can get hurt or worse through the mail. but he looks healthy so far

Wow the colors on him are beautiful! :D He's so small too, what a cute little guy. I've heard of several really good breeders on the internet who know how to ship their turtles really so that they go through as little stress as possible. Actually, the smaller ones ship easier as their light weight is less likely to be shifted around during transit.

Congratulations on your new baby! He's a real champ! :)

I also agree with ice, you should go ahead and raise the water level so he'll have more room to swim around, but if he's happy right now, you should probably wait a few days for him to settle in. At this point I'd be worried about accidentally changing the water temperature too suddenly or drastically. He really needs to have some peace and quiet for a few days. If you do feel like adding water now just make sure to do it gradually and try to use the same temperature water as what's in the tank already.

He is very very cute!! :) the markings and colorings are so bright and colorful! I'm 20 and I would have been at the truck acting like a kid too!!That's very exciting!! Congratulations on your new baby!

I'd name him Spike because of that tail!!! :P lol

I agree with everything DavidY said- give him a lil time to adjust but eventually definately give him more water!! He'll be thrilled with the extra swimming space!

He's like a super-amalgamation of every painted turtle ever! He has the light marks on his face like an eastern, the sunburst belly of a western and the back stripe of a southern! I love him! Can I ask who you ordered through?

Mine are 4.5 and 5 inches, although they are both males and I believe they may have been stunted due to constant use of vitashell by their last owner. I think I've read that normal for males is an inch or two bigger than that.

I got him from Paul V on Kingsnake.com his user name is chelidman. Here's his link http://market.kingsnake.com/userview.php?uid=36245&v=a

I paid $18 for the turtle and $30 for next day air shipping. He did a great shipping him! The little turtle was in a stirfoam bowl with a lid, with damp moss in it. The bowl was in a small box with packing peanuts all around it. The little turtle didn't look very stressed at all, just ready to come out! Lol!

Spike would be a good name for him with that tail! I know he's to young to tell but I think it's a male.

Do you see what I see? It looks like Pumba!! Well turtles can be little pigs!

Thanks! He so cute!! I'd love to bug him all day! But he gives me a look that says MONSTER!!!!! I can't wait until he begs like my RES Terri! It's hard to belive Terri was ever that small!
