I was concerned about this behavior, but since he hasn't done this again so I'm glad I got film of it. I should of put some background music to it. lol

Nice turt!

Tip for ya...get that gravel outta there. He'll eat it and that can cause serious problems.

Do you have any pics of the whole setup? Looks like he needs more water.

Louguy510, your turtle is really cute! He looks like a chubby cheeseburger! Doesn't look like he's missed many meals. :D

Are his eyes irritated? The lids look swollen to me. Does he blink a lot or rub them? If he was living in substandard conditions before you got him, they could have left him with sore eyes. You might try some Turtle Eye Drops. You can get them over the counter at places like PetSmart. They are soothing and will treat minor irritation.

Ditto what was said above about the gravel (big turtle health hazard!) And putting more water in the tank. With that small tank you'll have to work to keep his water clean, and keeping more water in there will help.

Shell rubbing is pretty normal, some turts do it more than others. His eyes do look a little puffy, using the eye drops can't hurt. He'll be much happier in a larger tank with a good sized filter......

Thanks for the tips guys. I got a free 30 gal from my uncle today, the only problem is that it is an enclosed kind of aquarium. Lifetech or prolife tech or somethin like that. I'm not sure how I am going to get the lighting situation to work. I'm not sure about his eyes if they look swollen or not. But he sure is really active. It will take a couple of days, but I'll have some new pics up soon.
