If it were up to me, I'd try and find a 40 gallon breeder instead of the 55 gallon.
While the 55 offers 4 feet in side to side length, it only has a paltry 12/13 inches front to back.
A 40 breeder will give you 3 feet from side to side and 18 inches front to back. You lose the 15 gallons only because the tank is shorter - which is actually a plus in my opinion since it's easier to access.
