Off topc here, did you say your pleco killed a fish?

Actually, one of my male mollies killed the female after she had babies, so I put him in the turtle tank hoping the turts would eat him, but he's still swimming LOL

Since the first one is still alive, I figured it was safe to stick another molly in there when I was cleaning out the fish tank the other day, but the turts gobbled that one quick! I guess they thought the first one was too mean to eat ;)

I do have a pleco in the turtle tank (and a molly) and "he" keeps everything nice and clean in there. The pleco will even clean the turtles' shells - really ticks them off LOL No chance the turtles will try to eat the pleco, he's at least twice their size.

Anyway, sorry it took so long to reply - I've been working way too much lately LOL!

Ohh okay, I was wondering about that.

Sounds like a Black Widow, but the other way around.

I would be careful about the plecos cleaning the turtle's shell, there have been some stories about a pleco eating a hole in the turtle's shell. :(

Here is a quote from: http://res87.tripod.com/id6.html

Tom C. knows of one turtle who’s shell was bored into by a pleco.; rare, but if you have a large pleco. watch for this (Tom stated “It (the Pleco) was found latched on to the carapace of a young Mississippi Map. This turtle was kept by Kent who was in the process of experimenting with numerous types of pleco.s to keep with turtles,” and “I found a smaller one latched onto the face of a smaller turtle. The pleco. had been chewing the eyelids off. Obviously both were removed, but only one returned. The eyelids have grown back completely and there seem to have been no side affects from the ordeal. What is really odd, is that this is another E. subglobosa. Rather a dramatic difference between this passive specimen and the other, more aggressive one.”)

f. Chinese Algae Eater – very common in stores. A fast, nervous little fish that evades turtles well & when young eats algae well. Reputedly doesn’t eat algae well as an adult & may attack other fish, esp. big slow ones, feeding off their slime coating & putting

them at risk for infection. I have a pair and like them okay.

I think that is a fairy tale, I've never seen a pleco cause harm. Not saying it has never happened, but I don't believe half the stuff I read online.
