is there a way to tell what the sex of a turtle is?? i still havent named mine and i was wondering because i dont want to give it the wrong name! :wink:

The turtle must be at least 4 inches to sex them.
Females have shorter claws, stubbier tail, and a dome close to the scute.
Males have longer claws (wolfman seriously), longer tails, and the dome further away from the scute

What does "dome close to the scute" and "dome farther away from the scute" mean?

The tail of a male will be really broad at the base and will taper to a point. The anal vent will be noticeably closer to the tip of the tail than the shell.
