I have noticed my turts squirting water from their nose... Is this normal?

They don't do it all the time, just randomly (I haven't seen it in a couple of weeks)

I tried searching the forums for this behaviour, but didn't find anything that matched - so I am sorry if this topic has been covered before!

They would do it when they are just out of the water, or upon resurfacing, perhaps this is only to clear the little bit of water in the nose canal - like humans do with snorkels?

*not sure*

Thanks!

My larger female RES does this and I'm not aware of it being a symptom of anything, although she is very active and a bit on the hefty side.

Thanks Steve, I was unsure whether this would be an issue - have checked them all (as best as I can) and haven't noticed any change in their behaviour, or eating so at the minute I am not too bothered with a little fireman training! *squirt*

My RES does this as well and there's nothing wrong with it. I believe it has something to do with the anatomy of the turtle--eating a food that's soft/juicy can also result in some of it coming out the nose.

Could it be the same as when humans laugh when drinking......

The contents ALWAYS seem to come out your nose :P
