I hear you on the lack of room in a hatchback--I have an 1973 Volkswagon Beetle, how much room do you think I have?

I wouldn't let the info in that article overwhelm you. Most important is to keep the ambient air at a comfortable temp (not too hot or cold) and remember that they need to be hydrated periodically. (Puttling them on a damp towel that has a comfortably warm hot water bottle under it will provide some moist warmth until they can be put in water, ideally about every two hours.) If you keep them in a darkened container, they'll sleep.
