you think thats bad, i was going to todays pet, and the rats and the snakes were RIGHT next to eachother, witht he wall in the middle, with 3 large holes. SO....i come back 1 hour later, all 3 rats are gone and the snake is in the rat cage. I go up to the counter, and say "you should do somethign about those holes" and he goes "oh, they always to that" i give him a look like this  and leave. Stupid people

Rats are stupid smelly creatures that carry disease. I love to watch snakes and monitor lizards eat them. The holes in the wall were obviously for the snake to get into the feeder room with the rats. People thats have rats as pets just boggle my mind....

I had a couple when I was a kid. If kept properly, they're not smelly at all, and really quite smart :-)

Did you think that the snakes were supposed to eat those rats? I'm not crazy about either as pets though.

:x [!!!]!!! youre a stupid smelly creature who carries disease! ive had 10 different pet rats over the past 12 years, sometimes one at a time, other times 5 at a time. if i could have them in my apartment building, i would still have them, but then again i had one in my dorm, but she was a "goldfish"...

anyway rats are not stupid, they're remarkably clever. i have research if you'd like it...they can be influenced by any number of sources, they can be taught to do tricks and play basketball, they can do mazes and learn to come when they're called. i had 5 rats at once and each one would come when i called its name, not when i called another rat, though, but if i said come on rats, they would all come

they arent smelly if you clean their tank, just like a turtle if you dont clean, they will stink. as for diseases, don't turtles carry salmonella?
as for the eaten by snakes...id really like to see a snake eat you...mmmmm staman.....

id love to see a snake eat you! mmmmmm staman.....

I saw a documentary on one of the Discovery channels on TV about where rats have been trained to sniff out landmines. It was over in one of the African nations where there had been war and landmines are still killing innocent people. The rats are light enough to walk across the mine field and when they reach a mine they sniffed the ground. The trainers, which were to the side of the mine field, would then write down the coordinates of the mine to later removed. These rats also came when their name was called. It was really interesting to watch.

But personally I couldn't own one just knowing that it was a rat. Same thing goes for mice, hamsters etc. Just a personal phobia thing. :)

i've had a rat crawl up my shirt once....a bit of a doosey there, but my mom threw up....

mars is right, the stupidest, smellyest, biggest carriers of disease ont he planet are humans. Have you ever had a disease test done at the doctors? I have lyme disease, had to get a tube stuck in my chest for 3 months, got antibiotics everyday, and i was allergic to the medicine, i was in a state of agonizing pain for 24/7, and it would not go away, i had some pain killers, made it less agonizing, but it still hurt, but its one less disease i will ever have to go through, so always check for ticks, any time...

PS. Lyme disease is NOT TRANSFERABLE, SO DONT BE MEAN TO PEOPLE WITH IT, YOU WONT CATCH IT.
