Depends on the turtle. Some will push them around, some won't look at them. I once put a little floating turtle in my RES's tank, thinking he'd push it around like a ping pong ball. At first, all he'd basically do is halfway swim up to it, then run the other way. Then he just ignored it so I finally took it out. In contrast, he has some rocks in the tank with him. For some reason he has singled out one or two of the less colorful ones and will spend part of each day interacting with them--fluttering his paws, nipping at them, and spinning them around. Move them to another part of the tank and he still will pick them out above all the others and do his thing. Different strokes for different turtles...
