I adopted Jynx today, a Common Snapper.
He is rather greedy, unfriendly, and willing to take your finger so I couldn't take a picture of his face, just his butt lol.
I don't blame him for being so grump, he has been living in very poor conditions since he hatched. He was living in a 15 gallon tank and he himself is 9 inches in carapace length.
He was being fed cat food and chicken for the past few months and apparently didn't have any uvb.
I won't be giving him to anyone, he's all mine now. Usually, I foster these type of animals and try to find them a good home after they are in better shape. After a month if no one adopts, then I adopt.
But Jynx is something else, nevermind his attitude. He is a sweet, loving snapper that I think will do just fine and warm up to people again

Aww, try and be friends with him, if you do, he will always love you, i used to have a snapper in the backyard, horrible attitude at first, but then he started to know me, and then he loved me, but it was horrible, i came out one morning to feed him, and he wasnt there, and i went out front, and he had been run over by a car, smashed :'( i tossed him in the pond in a $40 sealed wood chest, so he will always be there.

It's horrible, roadkill. I'm glad you got to know the snapper before he died. They are awesome creatures, not monsters.

That's great Jess. I was just about to ask how many turtles that makes you now, and then remembered your sig... duh! :) I think it's awesome that you take on things like this. I'm overwhelmed sometimes with just Koopa. (I don't handle stress well lol)

He looks good. Hope he warms up to you and his new home soon.

I know this is an older thread, but what a beautiful snapper. Even as a resident of Florida, I've never seen one.

What a tail!
