I was sitting in the floor by her tank putting on make-up, getting ready for school. She was on the ramp of her basking dock and when I looked up at her she was looking at me but she quickly poked her head up out of the water so she couldn't see me and I couldn't see her face from where she was at.

I laughed and then when I looked back up at her a couple minutes later she was looking at me and quickly popped her head out of the water again.

We played peek-a-boo for a good ten minutes.

I love my turtle so much.

And on another note, Alexander the Snail gave birth under water so all of the little eggs are distributed on the tank bottom. I think I read that the eggs need to be out of water to hatch so I'm guessing they'll either drown before they hatch or this weekend when I do a tank cleaning I'll have to just clean them out. Anyway, Alexander the Snail is now re-named Tally.

I don't know--snails have layed eggs on rocks that are under water in a small tank I have, and the eggs seem to hatch just fine. Wouldn't the eggs dry out if they're out of the water for any length of time?

For some reason I thought I'd read that eggs should be kept moist but not under water.

At least what I'm guessing are eggs. They are little black dots all over the bottom of the tank that were not there before the snail. They were in clusters but have been moves around a bit. I was wiping away some algae from the sides and bottom of the tank the other day so some probably got wiped up with it but there's still quite a few on the bottom. Maybe I'll wait and see what happens. They're very tiny.

The eggs that the snails laid in the tank were tiny dots in a jelly-like substance. The jelly would dry out if the eggs were laid near the water level and it dropped for a long period of time(and I'm assuming the eggs just died).
Snails make poop too, maybe some the black is that as well.

If it's poop then she's been pooping about twenty times a day. I mean, overnight the bottom was just exploded with little black dots.

Some snails do lay eggs under water

Note!: Not all apple snails from the genus Pomacea lay their eggs above the waterline in a clutch.Species that lay their eggs under the waterline (genera: Asolene (Asolene), Felipponea, Lanistes and Marisa):
The eggs are embedded in a transparant gelatinous mass are relatively small when they are laid, but take up a lot of water within the first days and swell significant (from 3 mm to 6 mm). The need for temperatures between 18 and 28°C (65-82°F) applies to these eggs as well. Obvious these eggs should stay below the surface!
