Hi

I just thought I would add to this topic instead of starting a new 1. My partner and I were watching our turtles and our older male turtle was doing the mating dance im sure of it. He was approaching our little females head and vibrating his front claws on her head. speed the male is 90mm and daisy the female is 65mm. speed is 16 months old and daisy is 7 months old.

It just seems random that they both so young and thinking about this stuff. (what are they teaching those kids today)
I read that they didnt (do it) until 4-5 years of age.

Anyone got any ideas of why they did it.

They're most likely not thinking about that stuff. Turtles will flutter at each other at any age, and either sex will do it to the other. It can be a dominance issue, brought on by too small a space. Younger turts can do this to each other even if the space they're in is adequate, however (how big is the the tank they're in?).

My tank is 1550mm L x 600mm D X 600mm H. I will try and set up one of those yahoo phot galleries so you can see some photos.

I know where you are you deal in metric, but if you converted to inches and multiplied the length X the width X the height and divided by 231, you'd know how many gallons the tank is. I think there's also a converter at the top of one of the forums.

Looking forward to some pics. :)
