This summer I am going on a vacation with my family to Mexico. Anybody suggest how to check up on my turtles from seemingly halfway around the world? The relative that usually takes for them when I'm not around most likely will go with us too. The only one we can think of would prefer to drink at a bar rather than watch after them (it just ticks me off sometimes :x ). Who do I trust? How do I care for them? Do I take them along (I just can't imagine lugging a tub with turtles in it onto a plane :) ).

I'm not sure exactly how to help, but the best I can say is find someone else you can really trust your turtles with. Hopefully your family will know someone, perhaps a neighbor?

Also, I've heard certain animal shelters sometimes will 'babysit' some animals (not always reptiles, but you can try). Just a thought you can look into.

That's th best I can do. How long are you going away?

My local Petland will board animals, including reptiles, for people while on vacation. You might want to check the local pet stores (the good ones anyway)

Animal shelters here are really bad with the cute and fuzzy warm-blooded animals, so imagine what they'll be like with reptiles. Let's see, leaving the critters with someone else from the forum, wow that really sounds sweet. 8)

How long will you be gone? What kind of set-up is your turtle in?

I probably will be out for two weeks, three at the most. They're still in the container while I upgrade.

You might have to hire somebody to take care of them, and pay them.....
