What do you mean by this exactly? The usual light schedule that people try to follow would be like natural daylight hours. In other words, lights on for no more than 12 hours a day. If for some reason you have a power outage and the turtles don't have their lights for a couple of hours, it isn't going to hurt them. If you forget to turn them on right away it isn't a big deal. Does this help?

This site has really helped me too! I got my turts almost a year ago and if I hadn't found this site I fear to mention where my turtles would be....if they were even still living.

In the summer, I keep my turtles lights on as long as it's light--nearly 14 hours right now--and gradually shorten the time as fall and winter approach to around 11 hours in the dead of winter (but may be trying something different this year). Follow the daylight hours and the seasons as much as possible. It's difficult to tell you exactly what the minimum no. of hours your turtles need is. An average of 12 hours would be good.

This is an old thread, but I've got a Q that's similar. Do you think it matters what type of scedual they get the light? I usually have his light on with my scedual. So on until 10-12 at night, and back on at 10 in the morn. (at least in the summer, when there's no school). He seems alright with it, I hear him get up in the morning as soon as I do xD

Most people tend to follow a schedule that mimicks the sun light. In the summer time, having the light on a little longer is ok, but they usually cut back in the winter.
