Sounds like something out of a comedy show :P . I don't know, never had problems like this. Try to get at one problem at a time. Try to entice the turtle that doesn't eat with something smelly (cat food). Don't know about the basking problem, someone else will have to answer that one.

Basic info---How long has this been going on?
What are the water and basking area temps?
What are you trying to feed them? (The eating one eats well?)

Are you sure the one isn't basking when you're not around?

ok this has been going on since i got them the one that eats well eats veggies primarily romaine and also pellets the other one eats just not as eagerly and i must tempt he before she takes a bite if she does end up going for it, the one that dosent bask could be basking when im not home but i never see him on the basking spot ever even him just sliding in the water......i made the basking spot easyer to get to also i lowered the tan temp so its at about 72 now timmy(the turt who wont bask) is a little bit smaller so im wondering if the platform is just hard for him to get on.

will keep you updated

ps-my basking thing is one i built out of rocks with a piece of slate on top

If they're small, I'd raise the water temp to about 78F (it's 72F now?) and have the basking area high 80's to 90F.

Definitely check to see that the basking area is easy to get on and make changes if necessary.

for painters i thought a lower temp would b ok since they were living in CT when they got rescued i got the impression that painters were hardier than RES in terms of temp

My RES doesn't like to bask either so I take her for outdoor walks in the sun.

Also, I feed her Tetra Reptomin food sticks which have Vitamin D3 & Calcium added & that helps keep them healthy (And now, thanks to this website, she is eating veggies too).

Regarding the one that doesn't like to eat, try feeding him/her every other day (instead of daily). As long as he isn't showing any other signs of being sick (check the main website for more info on how to tell when your baby needs to be taken to the vet), then he's prolly fine. My aquatic frog goes thru phases (during mating season) where he doesn't want to eat for days at a time & it drives me nuts too! One time, he didn't eat for almost a week, but he sure was singing up a storm at night (ribbit, ribbit, ribbit).

have you tried using more than one dock? that may sound like too much, but sometimes ours like to sit on separate docks....suppose they don't know how to share :)

I suggested the higher temps for a while in case they were ill (but not showing any symptoms).
