Well, after looking for a few weeks I've finally given up on finding Slide so I went to the pet store and picked up another RES. His name is Slyde. He's about 3 1/2" long and not quite as colorful as Slip but maybe that will change with time, or not. I say he because I'm pretty sure it's a dude. These two haven't figured out how to escape yet and let's hope it stays that way.[/img]

Have you already placed Slyde in the pond with Slip? The 90 day quarantine period is very important to keep your existing turtle from catching an illness that might be introduced by a new turtle.

Yes, I already put them together. Bad idea, huh. I don't have a quarantine area so I'll hope for the best.

Yea that's a bummer. He was a pretty spunky guy, but always looking for a way out. Slip on the other hand, seems content to just hang out and get food.

Have your fixed the area where the escape took place? I'd be concerned that it would happen again.

Yes the area has been secured hopefully for the better but it's hard to tell if it works because these 2 never leave the pond. We'll see.

90 days is the minimum recommended time. You can go longer to be on the safe side. Many illnesses do not show up immediately and need time for the symptoms to appear. You would hate to infect a healthy turtle if you could keep from it.
