he will attempt to eat anything that is not a turtle.. and youd will have to double the space for another turtle... turtles are solitary creatures and dont really need company.. some times they fight with each other. but if you do get another one. you have to quarintine the new one for 90 days to see if there are any signes of illness before putting him in with your turtle

Getting a second turtle means... twice the tank size, twice the vet bills, twice everything and it can get to be quite expensive in the long run. If you truely want to get a second one make sure you can afford it. But like Ozzy said they're solitary animals they don't need a "friend" and are very territorial which will lead to fights.

Newts, thats a bad idea because most of the aquatic varieties are poisionous which means if your turtle would eat it (and they'll eat almost anything) you'll be out two pets. Fish, thats not a good idea either because they will be come lunch.

I gave my guys feeder guppies as a snack. They got alot of excersize from chasing them around as well. Its not a bad option and is better than goldfish, plus if your turtles don't eat them right away they breed like rabbits so you'll have more for your turtle to munch on.

I think your turtle will love some guppies. I think it's the best bet for someone who feels like they need something else in their tank. It's safe for the turtle, and cheap for you.
