My bigger turtle Jabby, has been eating like crazy. She can eat and eat and still eat, I've always been careful not to overfeed her (I know the size of head if hollow deal) but now she just never seems full. Today I fed her the usual, peblets and some shrimp treats, after she got her share she kept begging for more. When I stuck my hand in the tank to pick something up she took a snap at my finger! I have a smaller turtle in the tank and last time Jab accidentally took a snap at his leg, thinking it was food probably, luckily I was around but she let go before I did anything. I'm sure Jab was just really hungry at the time and she wouldn't mean to hurt her pal. (The leg is fine and all, I was shocked.)

You can always offer greens, and cuttlebone when she begs.

My turtles never stop begging for food when someone walks by, they just swim up and make a big splash all over the place, I have to take a kleenex and wipe the water off the walls at times. Even after just feeding them, once I dropped half a can of food in there (I don't do that anymore), they finished it off in 4 minutes, and still wasn't full, so just learn to resist their persuasive behaviour, ;)
Hey hey hey.

yea the little buggers can eat. It got to the point lately that i was on a mission for some veggies Norman really likes. Everytime i put lettuce in, all different types, Norman never touched them.
So today i tried carrots. HE LOVES THEM!!
So instead of feeding him pellets everyday im gonna start taking days off.
Pellets one day
Carrots the next (or other veggies, just gotta find more he likes)
By the way...how much carrot should i feed him, cuz he seems like he would be able to eat a whole carrot? Any idea?
Is it still the "size of the head" rule wit the veggies too?
What would be a suggested limit?

Thanks for the suggestions but my problem is that Jab took a bite at my finger not once but three times now thinking it was food probably. I'm more worried about Smidge who's a lot smaller than Jab, she looks at him like he's food sometimes. I hope it doesn't come to where I have to separate them.

You're smart to be concerned! That focused look, "fluttering" the front paws, and snapping at the little turtle can all be signs of aggression. If I were you, I'd start planning on how to separate them! Once one of them really bites the other, you've got a big problem - vet bills, etc.

LOL about thinking your finger was food!

Sheba was walking around the house the other day & I was just sitting on the couch with no socks on & feet on the floor. Sheba walked right up to my big toe & chomped down on my big toe. OUCH!!!!

I swear she acts like I don't feed her!
