In the spring and summer I generally plant an extensive window-box garden. I live in an apartment and I have a balcony, so I set up 15-20 pots along the rail and grow flowers and herbs. This is my first year with a turtle, but I'm thinking about trying to pick a few things to grow that he can enjoy! This is more of a plant question than a turtle question, but can anyone suggest things that will grow well in pots or a window-box that would be good for a turtle?

dandelions!!! The leaves are wonderful for your turts and if you grow the plants yourself you don't have to worry about pesticides.

I don't know how it would do in a window box, but I usually grow a variety of lettuce in the garden. I get seed packs from the dollar store, and it has 4-5 varieties of lettuce in it (including red and green leaf) :)

Like the dandelions that I could find in my backyard? The ones with the yellow top?

i'd also recommend Basil and Dandelions. I think growing lettuce in window boxes is challenging. then it could also just be my experience, which was I killed it all.
