this is kinda a stupid question but how exactly does uvb rays go through the glass of the bulb if uvb cant go through plastic or glass?

It is my understanding that the glass the bulbs are made from is made from a different material than regular glass....at least that's the only thing that would make sense.

I believe that the rays can also go through plexiglass, if I'm remembering correctly.

Most glass and acrylic you buy have additives that block out and filter UV rays. It's a safety issue, especially with high powered halogen lamps.

There are few types of unfiltered plastic (forgot the name), but they will also block a lot of heat.
