Hey everyone!
I just thought it'd be cool if we all compared personalities of our lovable turts... :D

My little Serra (who's growing fast) is bold, friendly, and adventerous.
When I first got her, (half a month ago) she was the top turtle in the pet store. She was even standing on a bunch of other turtles when I saw her like she was the queen of the turtles..LOL When she saw me she jumped off of the turtles (and thus pushing some other turtles into the water) and swam right up to the tank, swimming against the glass. I knew she was the right turtle!

When I got her home, I let her rest for an hour, and tried to feed her a bit of lettuce from my hand. I didn't think she'd bite it, but instead she swam over, and jumped up and grabbed the lettuce and started thashing and eating it everywhere! LOL Later that night, she was basking, too. She gave me the evil eye, but didn't care when I went for a close look.

She has never tried to bite me before, and if I have nothing in my fingers she doesn't try to bite them, instead she just sniffs them and looks at me as if "Hey bub. Where's the grub?"

and man, she can run (on land) as fast as heck! probably can beat me in a race, especially if she has a pellet in her mouth (and if there's a cup of water at the finish line.)

She enjoys visitors and frequent visits to the garden ( And don't forget food!)

And that's Serra!

I have one turtle who is laid back and curious. She? likes to see me all the time, she basks in front of us, and only jumps if she thinks there's a chance of getting fed. She also likes running around on the floor and outside. Spike is not afraid of anyone, or anything. The other is rather timid. He hides from us occasionally, and jumps off the basking platform if he sees as much as a twitch in his area. He will beg however, and has learned to follow my finger to pellets. I feed the 2 on either end of the tank, and I have to help him so that Spike doesn't finish her pellets, and swim over to eat his. He hides in his shell out of the tank, so I haven't had him out much. He is fiesty however, and does open his mouth at me when I pick him up, as if to say "one false move and the hand gets it." He also chase Spike fluttering madly at her. she mostly ignores that. Good thing she's laid back.

My Serra is probably like your Spike...lol

oh btw don't you just love it when your turtles float at the surface and pop their little heads into the air and when you look down at them, they look like they're smiling? I tried taking a pic of Serra doing that, but she's too hyper...lol

When i come home after being gone all day, Turtley gets all excited and swims and splashes at the glass, and then he uses the filter intake tubes and the water pump to climb up the side of the tank untill only his back legs are in the water. Then he sits there for a second with his nose on the glass as if to say "allright then, where's the pellets?" I've tried many times to get pictures of this but i don't have the fanciest camera, so when i push the shutter button it takes about a second to actually take the picture. Not a big deal if you're trying to photograph your friends or perhaps a landscape, but for an exciteable turtle it leads to a lot of blurry pictures of the edge of his shell.
He's extremely outgoing when he's in the water (he's a champion beggar) but when he's basking he will usually rocket off his dock at the slightlest movement. Sometimes though he's really serious about his basking and when i come in the room he gives me this look like "i'm basking here lady, don't you mess with me!" I'd love to get pictures of him basking but he won't stay on his dock if i get close enough for a good pic. Turtles look so unbearably cute when they're basking, they always look so serious about it!
Tenodera- i really enjoy all your pictures and commentary on Serra, she is awfully photogenic. You are doing a really fantastic job of raising her!

Ralph is just coming into his teen years. He enjoys studying his "pet human". If he's basking, and I come over to the tank, he'll crawl over to the edge and give me a good look up and down. Same thing when he's in the water. He'll be flipping out begging and when I come over to the tank and look him in the eye he stops and looks right back at me. He also spends 8 hours a day (probably) relentlessly persuing his girlfriend, the rock. He still hasn't attained her affections, but he's not going to give up any time soon! He's got a real sweet tooth and will hunt long and hard for anything sweet before he even looks at something green. He also doesn't seem to like it when I watch TV after "lights out", and he'll swim against the edge of the tank until I turn it off, then he immediatly goes to bed.

He's also had a couple adventures in his younger years... I posted the whole story here

My Sheba is a real adventurer. She seems to recognize me against anyone else. She sees me walk by from another room and she paddles around at the glass to get to me. Of course, I think I'm the symbol for "food", too. She likes to stretch her neck out and look around. She likes it if I sit at the table by her aquarium. I think she likes my company.
