i have notised lumps on the back of her legs and i have felt some egg shaped objects i was very jentle. i have notised that the male was trying to mate with her for two days! she has had a decline in appetite and slightly more aggressive. unfortunately we have no vets that specialise in turtles. i am so eggsited lol

When feeling for eggs, don't feel around the backs of her legs - by her tail - instead feel in front of her legs. Feel very gently because you sure don't want to break an egg inside of her!

How big is your turtle? They won't lay eggs until they're pretty large.

I suppose you've seen the info below. If not, better read up on it. If your turtle is indeed gravid (that's the term you usually use for reptiles as opposed to pregnant) you need to be getting a nest box ready right away.

I think that on the anatomy of a turtle chart, an arrow should be drawn to show where you can feel for eggs/where they would be located.

Yeah, often, most people mistake where the eggs will be, I definetly get confused.

I'm just glad my turtle's a guy so i don't have to worry about all that. I do love how big the ladies get though...

Doesn't it take a few weeks for the eggs to develop inside the female after mating?

Well, it probably does take some time for the fertilized eggs to develop, but the eggs could have developed in the female even before any "participation" on the part of the male. She would just be carrying infertile eggs.

Oh yeah, I forgot they can lay infertile eggs without mating.

i hope i have guy turtles. they've got them cool claws and i certainly don't want to get too indepth with the nesting spots =Þ

definitely make sure they lay those eggs, though. one of the first things i read was that leaving a turtle eggbound is fatal. someone else also mentioned that they are very picky about where they lay eggs. i'll let the people with more expertise delve further into that, though, mine are still babies so i've no experience.
