Hello everyone - I appreciate all of the support that I have received on this site since Turtle's passing a few weeks ago. My husband and I knew we wanted to adopt another turtle, as we already have this fabulous set-up. We finished our above tank basking area on Thursday of last week and picked up our new turtle yesterday from the Colorado Reptile Humane Society. Our new family member is named Toni - the people who had been looking after her named her when she was just a hatchling 3 years ago - and they had named her Anthony, but we're 99% sure she's female, so Toni it is. She's a bit small for her age - SCL 3.75 inches - as she had a not-so-good home before she was brought to the rescue. She has 2 - 3 small areas of recovering shell rot - we're just waiting for those scutes to shed because otherwise, her shell looks great. She is so strong and fast - she is such a doll! She has already eaten (some veggies this morning) and has ventured up on her basking area when we're out of the room (we saw her up there when we returned home from Easter dinner - she quickly ran back into the water when she saw us!) I will post pictures as soon as I go and get new batteries for my camera - I accidently left it on all afternoon, so I can't transfer any pictures yet! Hopefully tomorrow!
