Here is somthing really cool I've notice about my turtles now that I've had them for just about a year.

They were quite shy when I first got them, man was it a pain to even try to get them to feed. Now just about 4 inches, these guys have become such masterful beggars, it's amazing. The minute I get out of bed in the morning the splashing begins. It's like they know it's feeding time. I don't even need an alarm sometimes to get up. But I think my turts go a little further. They do not beg if others are close to the tank, only when I'm around. My brohers tell me that they are quite peaceful thruout the day, but when I come home, they start going nuts again for a few minutes. I'm sure everyones RES are like that. Anyway, I find it quite interesting. Who said Turts arn't smart...I bet I could teach them like a card trick or somthing.....LOL....

It is cute and amazing how smart they are, but it would be nice if you could sit and enjoy them while they're being "peaceful". Perhaps you could wear a mask?

it is great how turtles talk to you with facial expressions and splashing.
as soon as a turtle starts splashing you immediatley know that they are telling you to feed them.

Sheba not only splashes, but she also bangs her very large shell against the glass a bunch of times to get my attention when I am off doing something else in the room (I think she feels "ignored").

Both of my turtles also love to take dives from the platform. I've noticed it several times. I think either they want attention or just plain showing off

My turtle has a very interesting personality. She's either very smart, or very weird... :D

When ever I hold my fingers over the water Serra rushes up to sniff them and look at them, but she never bites them. She'd look at me and stare as if she is saying "Where's the food!"

When I pick her out of her tank onto the floor, she walks over to her feeding tub and waits for me to put her in it.

Usually, when she's eating lettuce, she take one bite and it would float away, but recently she learned a new trick. She'll keep on punching the lettuce until her short claws go through it and then hold it and start munching on it!

Serra has had so many chances to eat Orange Juice ( The orange male platy) in her tank but she never even touched him. She sometimes swims over to him, sniffs, and then swims away. She sometimes accidentally kicks him while they're both begging for food. lol
