I've noticed that it's a firm belief here that fish would become food eventually. But Serra has never, ever, ever made any attempts at eating the platy. The platy, now known as Orange Juice, follows Serra around whenever she's rummaging for food.
Whenever I feed Serra in her tank ( which is not too often, for she's a big messy pig!) Orange Juice eats up all the small leftovers. There was this one time when Serra was chomping a particularly long piece of Reptomin with Orange Juice nibbling on the other end. It was sorta like a weird scaly version of The Lady and the Tramp.
I think I read somewhere that sliders are more carnivorous than some other turtle species while cooters are more herbivorous. Or maybe Orange juice is being lulled into a false sense of security until Serra grows bigger and able to swallow him in one gulp.
