Do NOT put newts or salamnders in your tank. Newts and Sals require much cooler temperatures and if they were eaten, your turtle would be poisoned, and some of them are deadly. If you want to put animals with your turtle put some fish.

And who would want to put an animal in a tank based on the fact that WHEN the turtle attacks it, it will just regrow the limb??????
The only acceptable thing to put in a turtle tank are feeder fish.

dude...no amphibians, hermit crabs, etc..period. Feeder fish, like guppies, rosey red minnows, or even some ghost shrimp and aquatic snails are fine..but nothing other than that.

ghost shrimp are my favorite. They are very interesting to watch, and they tend to last a little longer as they are harder to see. The turtles do eat them, but it takes awhile. If you want pretty fish, you can try fancy guppies. In my experience they are more expensive then rosies, and far slower swimmers, but they do look very pretty for the 20 minutes they swim in there.

I'm actually very jealous of the people who keep realy pretty fish in with their turtles, and their turtles DONT eat them..I wish mine werent such pigs. I tried a pleco once and it lasted a couple of minutes, i came back and all that was left was the plecos head floating.

Fancy guppies are kind of expensive to use as potential food opus, just buy some feeder fish, and maybe some ghost shrimp, and you should be set :)

You know for the longest time I was able to keep several Rosy Red minnows with my turtles. But I just noticed the other day that they were all gone! Come to think of it, I think there were fewer and fewer of them the last time I noticed. :?

brine shrimp live in salty water, which RES do NOT live in.

lol...why do you want to add animals in Opus's tank so badly?

If you're really interested in keeping other animals, I'd suggest a separate set-up for them. I wouldn't put anything in with your turtle. Ever. Unless, of course, you intend them to be devoured.

and even if you put something just to be devoured, which i don't think you want to, there's always a way where it can harm your turtle. ( parasites, claws, poison, etc)
