I went to a petstore quite far from my house the other day, and was looking through all the stuff for turtles. My mom thought that the info that i am getting is wrong so she asked the guy if RES's need heat and light. "No they mostly live in LAGOONS but they DON'T NEED LIGHT OR HEAT THAT MUCH." :evil:

I told my mom that he doesnt know what hes talking about and that it was a bunch of.....er......poopie :lol:

My mom still didnt believe me. " oooOOooh :roll:

hes an expert and he works with reptiles all the time... " and such :evil:

. I still don't have a light good enough for my tank.
phew glad i got that out. I just needed to rant and stuff for a while.
Does any1 know of a good brand of light for turts?

Show her threads on this board that show turtles need uvb bulbs, and show websites, etc.

I've been told by someone at Petsmart that turtles didn't need a UVB bulb, idiots.

Not only is that fustrating, its idiotic. One of the pet stores i normally visit has an indoor pond with koi fish and there is this one turtle about 6 inches in there. They left a rock for it to bask on, but theres no light :roll:

And the window is crammed with stuff they wanna advertise, hardly any sun rays go through.
Lately, I havent seen the turtle.

Another thing about pet stores, they say turtle bowls are great.
yep...great for killing them.

I guess it's the fact that people don't care. Unfortunaley pets don't seem to be considered important like humans are.

I'll never understand it, you skin a cat, someone should skin you.

I especially hate people that hunt animals just to hang them on a wall. For once when someone shoots a Bobcat just because they see one, I'd love to see a Bobcat somewhere else shoot them.

I went to this store a store called Super Pets yesterday its supposed to be this big warehouse for pet supplies. I needed to get some gravel for my son's Betta tank that I'm setting up.

My boyfriend calls me to see something. It was a 75 gallon tank that had tops 4 inches of water in it with 3 RES' that were 7-8 inches long.

If any of you can pick up, I tend to be a very not so nice person. I was livid. Just as a store employee was walking by I was going on about how cruel it was to have them in that tank like that and how incompetant the workers were and how I'd never be coming back there ever again.

Then I ranted on the car ride home which was about 30-45 minutes......

(sigh)

Which is proof there are morons working in the pet industry. In my opinion, if you have a printer, go to some varoius sites and gather information. Here, Austins turtle page, Reptilerooms.com (I posted some stuff from here there

. Have the facts from several places and put them in front of your mom saying, this is what I researched, this is what they need. Maybe my Mom is just logical enough to see common sense. But it can't hurt to try.

I think you misunderstood her TexasJagsFan, I believe what flutterby was saying is.. for turtlezilla to do research, print out articles and show their mom, not the petstore people..

Just so you know.. flutterby gets her nastiness from her father, not her mother. She also ranted and raved once she got to my house too haha.

But I'm sure I'm old enough to be your mother too LOL... I do believe I posted my age in my intro.. but if not.. I just turned 49 in July.
