I called Delta, United and Jetblue about carry-on. None of them will let me. United says I can send her as "live animal cargo" on a flight. They said that I have to put her in a plastic tub with a lid with sufficient airholes and THEN put THAT tub into a wooden box with a lid with more airholes.
They said that they needed the plastic tub put into a larger wooden box to "prevent punctures in the plastic tub"...
Not gonna lie, this made me a little uneasy. Why would there even be the possibility of punctures? Are they handling the cargo with swords? It made me a little weary to ship her as "cargo".
Unless anyone has any other ideas, it doesn't look like I can keep her.

Do not try to sneak him aboard. You risk being fined and you risk your turtle being confiscated. Did you read my post on the previous page regarding shipping?

No, I would never smuggle her. Especially at a post 9/11 airport. I am sure security is way too tight.
And no, Steve, I must have looked over your link to shipping turtles. Thanks for that. Does anyone have any experience shipping turtles? I just need some testimony here. I am very very very reluctant to ship her. I just feel...I dunno, weird?
Just let me know if it worked for you and if it is safe. Thanks.

I know for a fact that you can carry on small animals as long as they are in an appropriate "cage", as you will. The carry-on has to fit under the seat in front of you... I don't see how a turtle could be more trouble than a yippy little dog! Have you tried American Airlines, TWA, Spirit Airlines, etc.?
If you decide to ship your turt, you have to overnight her via Fedex. You need to pack her in a plastic container w/airholes in some damp moss to cushion her from being thrown around too much. Then also cushion the plastic container w/paper towels or something like it. Make sure it says "fragile", "live animal"' and "this side up"!!!
UPS does not allow the shipment of live animals even though they have (unknowingly!) delivered live turtles to people.
Good Luck!

that last post reminds me.... i flew on southwest airlines last year and i recall someone having a dog on flight... you should try southwest... they have pretty low priced too as far as buying tickets goes.

- i take back what i said about trying to sneek her. .. i dont think id do it.. i just kinda blurted it out lol

Have you tried ATA (I think those are the initials of the airline)?

I know that most airlines allow small MAMMALS as carry-on in the appropriate containers. But they don't seem to like turtles. Perhaps because of the danger of salmonella or the hepatitis. Whatever the reason, it doesn't make too much sense to me.
You'd think that there are far more people likely to be allergic to a dog or cat than to catch airborne salmonella or hepatits. But hey, what do I know?

Have you read this? http://www.1happyturtle.com/sliderlifebf.htm#Flying

If you search online for shipping reptiles, you'd probably get several more good links.
