Alright Turrbee, you got everyone fired up. Now PLEASE tell the story about the tortoise. Where the HECK did your friend get it? Yes, everyone here has responded with feelings of anger and violence but that's just feelings. You're a turtle lover. You know how it is. It doesn't mean you have to protect your friend or the seller. Maybe your friend honestly didn't know better. Someone selling torts SHOULD, though.

What do you say to a "sting operation?" If you can find where your friend got the tort, we could have someone call saying how cool it was, and that they would love to do that to their tort but want to see how it is done. And are willing to pay for the lesson. Then we call an animal patrol officer to show up for the "demo." The seller doesn't have to know how someone found out. In fact, if you don't tell your friend, either, no one will know but you.

Basically, people here can and are willing to make sure this guy doesn't hurt another tort, but you're the only one who can make that happen! And unlike your friend, YOU now know better. So whaddya say? Do nothing, or do something? :) Let's not make this little guy's pain be in vain.

I agree. I wouldnt blame your friend - part of me thinks that he just didnt know any better and assumed that it was okay. But once you tell your friend how cruel and horrible it was..if he has any heart, he would make an effort to try and stop it. Whoever did that to that tortoise is an idiot - i mean come on man..i think my 6 year old sister would know better than to drill a hole and attach a handle on a tortoise.

...and if HE doesn't, you can! You've got plenty of help right here. You don't even have to be involved, if you prefer.

And where is Turrbee? Assuming this is true (which I find so hard to believe), was this "handle" bonded to the shell with some type of superglue?

That's what I'm wonder too, if it was attached with some kind of glue or epoxy. Even still, that is no way to carry a tortoise! And what an absurd thing to do. I think you're right, Marisa, this has got to be some kind of bad joke.

Well, its not pleasant either way... Im sure that turtle would have died it there was holes drilled in it. How fricken LAZY can you be??? Even if it weighs 50 pounds, you could still find a way to transport it. And all the weight is being supported with its shell. THATS FRICKING DISGUSTING.

I think it would be a lot easier if you just crandled it than carry it with a "handle" anyways.....

well you know, if turrbee says where he lives in his prifile, we could look up that area and see if there is any stores that carry turtles and find out if they attach handles to the animals.

Ferd, i realy dont think that someone would "advertise" something like that..whoever attached the handles was stupid, but not stupid enough to leave him or herself open like that.
