My Female RES has been "popping" her beak. It looks like she is trying to talk. Is there something wrong with my turtle?

Is it like a clicking or a "tsking" sound? If so, does she do it at any particular time or in any particular situation?

She only does it when she is out of the water and looking at me. She does about 10 seconds apart then looks around. It's Kinda hard to get a pic because she does it quickly. If its nothing serious I may videotape it and send it to Planet's Funniest Animals. I could use 100 bux for the turts. :D

I need to know. My husband said he heard Neptune making the clicking sound. Not yawning, not burping. He said he opens his mouth and just clicks. I have never heard it. But it was described as the sound when a human pops their jaw. I asked if he looks like he was popping his jaw but my husband just said he just opened his mouth and out can the noise.

Does your turtle do it after s/he's been basking or out of the water for a while?

I've heard many turtes do that when basking. I can't identify it but your vet might be able to.

Hmmm...I once had a RES that used to make a "tsking" sound when he was out of the water for a while, and I wondered if it meant he was getting a bit dehydrated. I've also heard Tilly (the RES I have now)make a grinding sound, almost like a warning sound, in a situation when I think he must have felt threatened. A member on the old forum once said her turtle used to make a "clacking" sound when her dogs came too near it (again a warning?). Don't know what it could be--you're sure there's no wheezing?

Here is a some information about sounds or mouth movements that turtles can make. I've never heard a turtle sneeze or cough, but I have heard them clicking, so I'm not sure how to seperate the sounds.

I asked my husband several times to mimick what he heard and he said it is like the sound when a person pops their jaw. He said Neptune just did it out of no where and did it about three times.

I haven't heard wheezing and I have been watching very carefully since My husband told me. I also did a full tank clean and rechecked all the temperatures and changed my filter. I rinsed off everything that was in the tank.

I wanted to ask you guys first. My husband feels it was a mating call and nothing more but I wanted some insite.
