Spazz found a new sleeping position-- floating on her back while gripping the edge of the floating dock. She didn't maintain her position for long because she spied me gawking at her and swam away.

My turtle is too cute for words.

I'm not sure of this, but I don't think that's a normal occurrence.

I doubt the turtle was sleeping flat on her back. It's very difficult for them to breathe on their backs, and a turtle on his can suffocate if it can't right himself if on his back for a length of time.

I can, however, imagine a little turtle with the paws on the edge of the basking area and the shell under the basking area with the plastron at an angle facing the basking area.

Mr. Turtle sleeps propped upright against the side of the tank sometimes. He's also been known to sleep with one back foot propped on his basking dock, and with his shell on a rock that is inclined face down.

I should get some plants for my turtle to cover himself while he sleeps in it. Too bad I cannot drive though =( There's a creek where I live, but no water plants in it, and the lake is pretty much dried up with liter all over the lake bad. A sad sight to see.
