my little wall-e seems to always listen when i play music.. so far it seems he likes the softer rock when the ladies sing

how good is a turtles hearing anyway?

Not as good as humans, although they tend to hear low sounds better.

When I play my piano, my turtle does stop and turn his head towards me for a second and moves on. It only happens when I play my piano too. I don't know if he can hear it well though.

I dont think they can hear you from in the water

Not that good---they don't have holes/ears like we do, so what they do hear is pretty much muffled. They hear low tones better than high tones. They're very sensitive to vibrations.

I would think they could probably hear you better in the water since they would be more likely to feel the vibrations moving through the water.

I think he can hear something when I play, because he stops to look at me which is rare. The tank is really sensitive to vibrations. For example, as soon as I step in the room I can see the water reverberate slightly because of the hardwood flooring, which is why I think I barely ever catch him basking.

i had the same question a while ago rosek.
with nimrod, he just felt the different vibrations i think through the water, and it caught his attention.

Yeah, I'm cool like that. It used to belong to Will's grandma, but we used it so often that she gave it to us. Now we are just trying to increase or record collection.
