Ok, is there anything other than a good cleaning to make sure any loose pieces are removed before I put corkbark in the tank? I have a piece of grapevine floating on the top of the tank that the turtles use like a swimming "noodle" but they are getting a bit big for it .. and its getting water logged and not floating as well. ( I do take it out occasionally to dry off and put it back).

Just not sure if I have to do anything else before I put it in.. and don't want to create problems for the turtles or my tank.

I just gently scrub it to remove loose pieces and let it soak for a few days to release some of the tannins if it's a piece that quickly discolors the water. I also occasionally bake it to dry it out if I can't put in the sun.
