Well a new Petland opened up today and I went in. I looked all over the place for turtles and couldn't find them. So finally I asked a guy where's the turtles. He goes oh we don't and will not sell those. I was like uhhh wha? You've got snakes, rats, mice, fish, lizards, about everything on Noah's ark yet you don't have turtles!?!?! I then said well do you have anything for a turtle? He goes..well just the basic stuff. So he showed me. We have lights.....that's about it. I was like gee aren't you guys real winners.

So I'm not too big on Petland. I'm going to support the local Ma and Pa pet store because one their prices are waaaaayyyy cheaper (Petland had everything marked up horribly, 5 bucks for a betta, 5 bucks for a small fake plant, 9 bucks for one filter replacement part..and it just keeps going up. Plus I saw a puppy I wanted it said 69.00 a month and then under it, it said for 12 months....I was like you're kidding me right!? But you got three free vet visits to a vet that I don't even go to! *rolls eyes* And it wasn't even an odd ball dog it was just a German Shep! It was registered but geesh! Even a registered one isn't that expensive!

So it's just kinda odd I thought really that they had no turtles and weren't going to sell any. Though they had turtle starter tanks for 70.00. *rolls eyes yet again*

yep like a massive warehouse, though one whole part of the store has hundreds of tanks set up with all these beautiful fish and stuff..I think most of the money went to that. And they have a koi pond to, but no turtles......but we've got everything else! Including really expensive ferrets!

I think it's good that they won't sell turtles. There are too many unwanted res out there already. I'd shop there because of that.

Don't get me started on ferrets!

Let's hope they're not selling turts because there is no interest and not because of some other reason.

They wouldn't tell me why they wouldn't sell any, and yeah it's alright if they're not selling them because of the over population but really where I live, you can't find turtles. The only place you can find them at is the Ma and Pa pet shop and they only had three 6 inch RES last I was there. But what worries me with Petland is if I go in there and have a problem with my RES what good are they going to do me when I say yeah he's sick I need help. They won't know what to do because they don't have any to even know what treatment would be good for them. And I still can't figure out why they have turtle starter tanks but no turtles......still working on that one.

But I'm just disappointed in the fact that they have everything else (they even had an eel!) yet they can't even have one turtle for someone to take home or if nothing else to just live there in the Koi pond they have.

That's what I like about the Ma and Pa place, I go in, I can point out on their turtles where my turtle doesn't look ok or something or explain and they know what to do.

I applaud them for not selling turtles. When I asked about turtles at the Petsmart near me, I was told that they won't sell them because they require more care than they can give them. At least they know their limits. (How I wish the Petco nearest me would catch on...). Petsmart does carry a fairly broad line of products for turtles, though.
