Well, some guy on craigslist is selling a 50 gallon pond for $100, not worried about the pond, but the extras. He says its a pondmaster kit that handles up to 400 gallons, and i'm planning on getting a big stock tank, most likely 300 gallons, and do you think i should spend the $100 for the pondmaster and just sell the 50 gallon pond part? I think pondmasters are expensive if i remember right, but is $100 - what i get for the pond worth a pondmaster filter, pump, and fountain that support a 400 gallon?

Your best bet is to find out which pondmaster it is first and then search for the current cost of it new. You'd also be able to find out the specs for it and see if it's going to be able to handle a 300gal pond. I don't think it's a matter of whether it's worth the $100 because I think it probably is, but is it worth spending the $$ if it's not going to be usable for the larger tank you wish to get.

he says it can handle up to a 400 gallon pond, i didnt see any on their site that said 400, but i saw one for 350, so, i think it can support a 300 gallon stock tank. and i think i could ebay the pond for some money back, heck, i might even be able to get the $100 back!

The one thing you want to keep in mind is that it should be rated for 2-3 times the size of your tank. So if it's rated for 350 that's not quite large enough. Although I could be wrong with this with regards to pond pumps. I'm sure marisa will step in at some point and let you know :)

Does he not know what model it is so you can find out the specs on it?
