Okay, so as a lot of you know I just recently upgraded my 20 year old Painted Turtle's living conditions...And one of the upgrades was a basking light - which he's never had.

He's had for a total of 4 days now, and it seems as if he's a lot more colorful...As you can see here:

his colors aren't all that bright..This picture was taken about 2 weeks ago...Looking at him now his greens seem to be a LOT darker, his yellows are WAY more vibrant.

Am I just crazy, or is this how it's supposed to work? :oops:

makes sense to me. I don't know the science of uvb rays or anything but it would make sense that the proper lighting and a varied diet would contribute to brighter colours.
