Just saying Hi to everyone here. I'm from San Diego and have owned 4 RES for about 4 months now. They live in my backyard pond along with my Koi fish. Hopefully I will learn a lot from the pros here as I am clueless about these creatures. They seem to enjoy basking in the sun and love to climb on the rock on the edge of the pond.
Tthe only problem I noticed is one of them get trapped inside the skimmer filter all the time so I make it a point to open the lid everyday to make sure no turts is trapped inside. They seem to be thriving very well.

Thanks for letting me share my experience.

hi and welcome
if you read all the stickys you will learn a bunch they are very helpful what to feed and not to feed, illness, housing, all kinds of stuff so have fun  I was just wondering do the turts bother your fish they will eat the pretty fins sooner or later caz they do get fairly big :!: turts enjoy the warmth of the sun and its very healthy for them,it prevents shell rot from a shell that cant get dry as well as helps them use the vitimines they need from their foods. I do not have an outside pond yet  so I cant give advice on how to keep turts out of this filtering system but wait very soon some will give you really good advice. (we have very creative turtle owners) they will also inform you of water temps and winter cold so keep checking and ask questions as needed.
Don't put a question mark (?) where God has already put a period (.)!

Hi and welcome to the forum, any way you can put a screen over that skimmer filter so that the turtles don't get in there in the first place??

We'd love to see some pictures of your turtles if you can post them.
